Stainless Steel Cleaning and Passivation
Purpose: This process removes rust, weld spots, weld beads, and oxide scales that form on stainless steel components during fabrication, assembly, or welding. Simultaneously, it provides comprehensive passivation, increasing corrosion resistance by a factor of 10. It prevents secondary oxidation, effectively enhances the material's resistance to corrosion, improves the surface anti-corrosion quality of stainless steel products, and extends the service life of equipment. The treatment leaves the surface with an attractive, uniform, silver-white passive film. This film is dense and aesthetically pleasing, capable of increasing the corrosion potential by more than 500 mV. The process is simple and convenient to apply. It is widely used for the pickling and passivation of parts, sheets, tanks, pipelines, and equipment made from SUS300-series austenitic stainless steels (such as SUS303, 304, 316, 304L, and 316L) as well as duplex stainless steels (such as SUS201, 202, and 204).
